Thanks for dropping by Elton! I’ve seen this short film a few times, and it always got me thinking “what if war happens this fast?”. Makes you feel small as ants in a bowl of hot soup.

Still, it was Miriam Santiago who largely took the blow of alleged dagdag-bawas and not the INC-backed Danding. Besides, it was common knowledge then that everyone was cheating everyone else, so in the end, the collective cheating somewhat canceled each other out. Your point, however, illustrates the even more immediate importance of clean elections or else good guys will always finish last. But in order to have clean elections, we need a righteous government, and we can’t have that unless we a have a righteous president at the helm. Another inconvenient chicken-and-egg anomaly. In our experience, the way out of the quandary is to wield a leader who can muster the charisma to wow the crowd, yet have the moral stamina to be more heroic than Frodo for resisting the corrupting nature of power. (In short, a Cory.)
